Mark 9:50, “Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his saltness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another.”
The Bible says salt is good. But if salt has lost its saltiness, then it is useless. Jesus said in Mark 9:50 to HAVE SALT IN YOURSELVES! Salt makes the human body thirsty. This is why you'll always see a soda vending machine next to a chip vending machine. The salty chips make people thirsty. As Christians we are supposed to make the lost world thirsty to have what we have. This is what the Lord means in Mark 9:50.
Notice that Jesus finished Mark 9:50 by admonishing us to HAVE PEACE ONE WITH ANOTHER. The world doesn't want any part of the fighting and hatred in many churches today. Sadly, there's much scuttlebutt, slandering and bickering all over the internet these days from our Baptist churches. The internet is a weapon, whether for good or evil. Many people use the internet as a weapon to destroy others. Proverbs 11:9, “An hypocrite with his mouth destroyeth his neighbour: but through knowledge shall the just be delivered.” It is also true that a hypocrite with his fingers destroyeth his neighbour via the internet. God hates gossip and slander, whether true or false. The world wants no part of the hatred, fighting and slandering which has infected many of our Independent Baptist Churches today. Jesus told us in Mark 9:50 to HAVE PEACE ONE WITH ANOTHER!
Do you have salt in you? Does your life and words make other people thirsty for the things of God? Matthew 5:16, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Our life either causes other people to glorify God or curse God. The unsaved world doesn't see the Holy Spirit, but they do see our manner of life as Christians. What does our life say to them? Always remember that you are the only Jesus that someone knows. Listen to what famous author Mark Twain once said...
“If Christ were here, there is one thing he would not be, a Christian.”
―Mark Twain, NotebookMay our lives all reflect the Lord Jesus Christ Who lives within us (1st Corinthians 3:16-17; Romans 8:9). The world is confused about everything today. They don't know which way to go. We know from the Scriptures that Jesus is the only way, the truth and the life (John 14:6). The world needs to hear about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. That is the GOOD NEWS, which is what the word Gospel means. It is our duty as Christians to proclaim the Glad Tidings of Christ crucified, buried and risen (Romans 10:15). Amen and amen!
Pastor Jack Hyles (1926-2001) makes the awesome following observation from the Old Testament . . .
The only hope for America is for soul winners to get busy winning souls and for leaders to get busy preaching personal holiness so that God will enter with us into a covenant of salt and will spare our land!
Now notice Genesis 19:26, "But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt." Why was Lot's wife turned to a pillar of salt? There was not enough salt in the city to cause a covenant of salt. When a city was taken in battle, its destruction was finalized when the conqueror would sow it with savourless salt. What a symbol this is! Savourless salt will not spare a nation; it causes its destruction!SOURCE: Dr. Jack Hyles, The Salvation Of A Nation, from the book, Salvation Is More Than Being Saved.
To have salt in ourselves means more than just lifestyle evangelism, that is, trying to win lost sinners to Christ through our influence alone. The Bible teaches confrontational soul-winning, that is, approaching lost sinners with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The salt is the Word of God. The world needs to see AND HEAR the Words of God living through us.
Colossians 4:6, “Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.” We ought to read, hear, study, meditate and memorize the Words of God.
HAVE SALT IN YOURSELVES!!!

You can't keep a good man down, and a good man is a godly man!
Luke 8:39, “Return to thine own house, and shew how great things God hath done
unto thee. And he went his way, and published throughout the whole city how
great things Jesus had done unto him.”Mark 1:15: “...repent ye, and believe the gospel.”
